Within the UK, assisted reproduction and preimplantation genetics are regulated by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Clinics wishing to carry out preimplantation genetic diagnosis for chromosomal translocations or single gene defects or to screen for chromosomal aneuploidy are required to have licenced embryo biopsy practioners and a treatment licence that covers the particular genetic test.
